About Me

When I’m not in the classroom, you can probably find me curled up with a good book or binge-watching my favorite Netflix shows! I also love discovering new restaurants with my friends (especially if dessert is involved) and doing a little online shopping (Amazon might know me a little too well)!

If I weren’t a teacher, I’d totally be a “professional reader” (yes, that should be a real job!). I absolutely love getting lost in a good story, it’s just hard to find the time. So if someone wants to pay me to read all day, sign me up!

Teaching Philosophy

I believe the primary goal of school education is to develop knowledge and reason in a student so they can grow and continue learning throughout their life. I will incorporate cooperative learning in my classroom so students can learn with their peers to maximize learning. Cooperative learning develops a student’s self-confidence as well as enhances social skills which are important skills to have in life. Cooperative learning activities I will implement in my classroom include having students participate in small groups to do an assignment, discuss a reading, or share in a Think-Pair-Share.

I will also integrate inquiry-based instruction to teach students how to think for themselves and improve problem-solving skills. I will have students participate in group projects to research a topic, or even conduct research on their own. This will help students develop reason that they can carry through life with them.

Additionally, technology will play a major role in my classroom, but not to the extent where it will negatively affect my students. Because technology is so accessible today and today’s students know so much about it, I will incorporate meaningful technology that enhances their learning. I will also use technology to assist students if they need it. If a technology source does not serve a purpose or assist my students, it will not be used because too much technology can impact development in students.
